As a longtime Disney World visitor, I have basically seen every nighttime show that they have (or have had) to offer and I can honestly say that Fantasmic blows every other one away. Sure, it may not be completely fair comparing a big budget show to a parade or fireworks, but I’m just saying that if you were to have only one night in Disney World, seeing Fantasmic would be the best way to spend your night.
The show takes place nightly at the Disney Studios Park in the Hollywood Amphitheatre and features all of your favorite Disney characters. The best thing about this show is that it incorporates all the aspects of every other Disney nighttime event into one. With Fantasmic you get fireworks, lasers, characters, live action and a nice amount of sound/visual effects, not to mention you get to sit down and relax while watching the show as opposed to standing like in every other park. The plot is basically that the Disney villains have invaded Mickey Mouses dream and he has to use courage and imagination to overcome them. Along the way he encounters and battles villains such as Governor Radcliffe, Jafar and Maleficent. However, even though the villains play a big part in the show, the good guys also have their moments, including a great finale which includes close to 40 characters riding on Steamboat Willie.
One of my personal favorite things about the show is how they use both live action and water screens to connect the storyline. Obviously there is not enough time to include all the movies in the show so there are large water screens which are used to show images and collages of either good guys or bad guys depending on what part of the show its in. I also enjoy the setting of the Amphitheatre as it gives everyone a mostly good view of the show whether they sit up high or down low.
So overall even though there are a few slight disturbances (listed in cons), depending on the type of person you are, Fantasmic is a great show which is most definitely worth your time.
