Air Tran is the worst airline I have ever dealt with in over 40 years of flying. They cancel flights for lack of a crew after most of the passengers have checked in - who has such poor control of their resources? The gate supervisor announces the flight is officially canceled and the gate agent will assist us with rescheduling. She recommends people in line beyond a certain point would get faster service by going back to the main ticket counter because any ticket agent would be able to assist. I was # 6 in line at the gate so it seemed reasonable to stay at the gate to reschedule but after more than an hour not one person was processed. The gate agent kept having problems but her supervisor just walked away after making the announcement and would not answer calls from the agent. Finally the supervisor did return a call and told the agent to take the names of the 6 of us that had been there from the cancel announcement and send us to a particular agent at the main ticket counter who was expecting us and would take care of us immediately. Well when we got to the main ticket counter the supervisor laughed at us and told us to get at the end of the line. She refused to call the gate or the gate supervisor. We kept pushing for assistance in a polite but firm way to another agent who said he was going to call security and have us arrested. He finally backed off when another agent came over and took our boarding passes and said she would look for options. All the time the other 2 agents continued to reschedule the other passengers that clearly had not been waiting as long as we had been waiting since we were at the gate when the cancellation announcement was made. The bottom line was no help just a refund offer or a flight after my return flight was schedule to depart to bring me back.
I found a flight on another airline on my own that would get me to my destination early enough to pick my son up from his camp and make our Air Tran return flight. I purchased the ticket and took care of my own accommodations for the night since Air Tran refused to assist. Then our return was almost as big a mess but we did get home. However our flight was 1 hour but it took over an hour for Air Tran to get the luggage off the plan and to the claim area. They lost the entire flights luggage somewhere and not until a number of passengers went repeatedly to your baggage claim office did they send someone to look for the flights luggage.
Certainly not a good Air Tran experience and this is just one of several bad experiences I have had with Air Tran an airline I don’t expect to use in the future.
