This summer was our second river cruise booked through Gate 1. The trip on the Danube River from Bucharest to Budapest was fantastic! The booking process was easy and straightforward. The ship, with a cabin upgrade, was very comfortable and the entire staff from cruise director and tour guide down to the waiters and housekeepers were professional, friendly and always helpful. The itinerary was also excellent and provided many opportunities to shop and explore on our own. The amount of information provided by our tour guide enhanced our understanding of the countries’ post-communist cultures. The food on the ship was excellent, including a vegetarian entree every evening, and we enjoyed the more informal dining experience including not having assigned seating which allowed us to meet many interesting people. The hotel in Budapest which was a part of our tour was excellent and easily met standards Americans are accustomed to. Our Budapest guide was attentive and knowledgeable and helped solve our airport transportation problems. (at 4:00AM!) We booked this trip because of its relatively inexpensive price and because we enjoyed a similar cruise on the Rhine last summer, also booked through Gate 1. It far surpassed our expectations for budget travel!
