I flew on Continental Airlines from Geneva to New York. The aircraft was a Boeing 767.
Reservation Agents were very polite and efficient. The web site was also easy to navigate.
Check in in Geneva took about 20 minutes in wait time.
The flight left on time and the seats were more comfortable than on the Air France 777 we returned on. The legroom on the 767 is a respectable 32 inches compared to only 31″ on their 777 aircraft.
The crew were polite and efficient, though not as friendly as on the Air France flight
However the military announcements while boarding telling us to sit down quickly so that we can depart on time was nerve wrecking and completely obnoxious.
The entertainment movies were limited and the cheap headsets were difficult to put on. The choice of music was satisfactory.
My only gripe was the “rubbish food” they serve. Lunch was served at 10.30 AM. We had no choice and were served:
A boring small salad
Pieces of beef which was ruined by a thick not very nice dark sauce with mashed potatoes. It was however edible but not very enjoyable, unlike on Air France.
No cheese as US airlines can’t afford it.
The most disgusting chocolate fudge bar which looked like something sold in a subway vending machine for 50 cents.
However the snack before landing which consisted of a hot Turkey sandwich and chips with a small chocolate was enjoyable.
The crew also came regularly with drinks.
One good thing about Continental is their Frequent Flyer Program. Unlike some European airlines, they still credit you with the full mileage even if you are paying a cheaper discounted fare. This is something one must watch out for.
Another advantage is that even in the High Season summer months one can still find Awards to / from Europe for 50,000 miles. With Delta I find this impossible. Seats are either unavailable or they require 100,000 miles.
In general Continental is a good airline. Moreover I am not a fan of Newark Airport where their flights from / to Europe arrive. The taxi fare from Newark to New York costs about $25 more than from JFK.
