I recently used Dollar Rent-a-Car again to rent a car when I went on a visit to central Ohio, and did so by first making a reservation with their online service. They make it really easy to rent a car first of all, and they do it by offering pretty good rates for nearly any size car that you are looking for. I was attracted by the affordable prices, and the fact that they had a counter open late at the airport that I was landing at. So even when the flight ended up being late to arrive, I still had the ability to make it to the counter and talk with a rental agent before taking my car off the lot. One thing I should point out from the beginning though, is that I went for a higher level car online, expecting to get a Dodge Charger like advertised, never having driven one, and thinking it would be an added bonus to the trip. When I got there though, they didn’t have any Dodge vehicles at this rental location, so I felt a little misled by the online site.
The web-site did allow me to rent the car and sign up for any insurance I wanted, as well as provide me a quote for what the cost would be in addition to taxes, so in the end, I wasn’t all that upset about not getting the car I requested. I rented a mid-sized, and when I checked it out from the very helpful girl at the counter, she gave me a small SUV for my troubles, and I left happy with the KIA Sorrento that they gave us. I had never driven a KIA vehicle before, but this one worked quite well in my opinion, and actually left me with a good opinion of the car company. The check-out was very easy, and she asked if I wanted to take out insurance on the car, presented the form for me to sign-out the car, and showed what the amount of the car rental would be as a placement on my credit card. They also offer the chance to pay for gas up front (by the gallon) so that you can return the car almost on empty and save a few dollars by purchasing through them.
The whole process of checking out the car took barely 2 to 3 minutes, and we were out the door with the keys to the car. It was so easy after a long (and annoying) flight that this turned out to be an exceptional experience in my personal opinion. The girl was very polite, straight to the point in her explanations, and renting the car that day was a quick and easy breeze. The car was pretty clean, and she requested that we let her know if anything was damaged or needed to be put on the report, and seeing nothing wrong with the car, we were off and running. The car ran like a dream, with the transmission gliding through its gears perfectly, and everything seeming to be in top condition. The car exceeded expectations in that regard, and we were quite happy with the KIA. When we returned the car, it was as simple as parking it in a stall at the airport lot, and dropping the keys in the drop-box. The credit card charge showed up later, and everything was golden.
The whole process of using Dollar Rent A Car was a very easy one, from the online reservations all the way up to returning the car. The only thing I ended up being frustrated with was the fact that they didn’t have the exact car that they advertised, but I got over that when I actually arrived in person. The car cost just over $200.00 for an 8-day rental after fees and taxes, and I thought it was well worth the price for the experience we had with Dollar. The staff was very nice, there were no hidden fees or expenses that we weren’t told about, and the car worked as great as could possibly be expected. The price was lower than some other agencies that I had looked in to, and we ended up being very happy with this latest experience using Dollar Rent-A-Car. If you are looking to rent a car, and want to get something inexpensive while being dealt with by great customer service agents, then I would highly recommend taking a look at what Dollar has to offer.
