The First Look (checking in)
Checking in at a large hotel like the Grand is often a tedious process, in the least. The MGM Grand makes it feel like a walk in the park. When you walk in, you see three very large desks that all look similar. The one in the middle is the check in counter. The difference is 3 giant screens behind the counter.
For comparison to other hotels, it took about an hour and thirty minutes to check in, there were complications, but from what i understand those things happen all the time. At this hotel it took about 3 to five minutes to check in. There are even people to get you to the right desk to check in. Your first look at the Grand is a nice reflection of what you can expect for the rest of your stay.
The Rooms
After you check in you will most likely go to your room. Giving that the hotel is so large there are many floors you need to take elevators up to your rooms. You decide what elevators to take with groups of elevators that go to different levels.
I stayed in a basic room and it was comfortable, it wasn’t anything special, but it was certainly nice and you won’t have anything to complain about. The beds are very comfortable. They have down comforters that seem to keep you at a perfect temperature. The bathroom is always basically immaculate. You could upgrade, but if you only have one or two people staying in a room and you don’t have unreasonable expectations the basic room should be good enough.
The Amenities
This hotel has EVERYTHING, you just need to look in the right places. It’s almost like you would never need to, sometimes you never want to. The only complaint that i have about this is how far away they are from each other (and the rest of the hotel).
The pool here is described as an “Ultra Pool.” It is very hard to find, but as soon as you find it you will just want to jump in. They have a very large pool and a nice lazy river. The pool isn’t just recreational but also a social area. It is known for having concerts and events coming through. It has a poolside bar and grill and is very refreshing on a hot day.
The Restaurants
Every Hotel on the Las Vegas strip has rather nice restaurants. The MGM Grand has my favorite selection. They have a nice restaurant of every cuisine. They also have a food court if you have a lower budget.
The “Grand” Buffet here is the biggest buffet i have ever seen in Las Vegas. You would really have all of the food that you would ever want. In the entire time that I ate there i hadn’t even seen the whole buffet. It is a little bit on the pricey side but you can get coupons with your stay. Even if you do not decide to stay here i strongly recommend that you eat at this buffet.
The Casino
This casino is giant (larger than the Yankee Stadium) and other than the size difference the setting is really no different.
The Nightlife
The MGM Grand provides 7 bars and clubs and all of them have their own qualities and you should be able to find one to fit your personality.
The Prices
The Hotel is a little bit expensive normally but it can be an extremely good deal if you take advantage of their promotional deals. Also, Las Vegas slows down in the Summer.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed my stay here. Even if it is expensive, it is well worth it. This hotel is ideal for people that would like to have the best gambling experience, or even people that would like to spend more time in their own hotel. Even if you are not that kind of person you will still enjoy your stay.
