We flew into Anchorage to begin our trip.

After staying one night in Anchorage we boarded the train to Denali. Fantastic trip with good information given by tour guide.

The next day was the Tundra Wilderness tour in Denali Park. We weren’t in luck as far as seeing very many bears or Denali Peak. However, I understand that the peak is only visible in the summer 20% of the time. So consider yourself lucky if you see the peak no matter how many days you spend in the park. Only those who paid for the extra excursion in the plane were able to see Denali peak as they were able to get above the clouds.

Late in the day we took the train to Fairbanks. The McKinley Explorer train car is very comfortable with great sights. The information given to us by the guide on the train was very informative on this train trip also.

The food on the train was good too.

After a night in Fairbanks (and panning for gold in Fairbanks) we traveled by bus to Tok visiting several small towns along the way. Our bus was very comfortable as it had just been revamped and had many seats removed to allow for more room.

The next day we took the bus to Eagle. Very interesting small town that still has a year round population.

From Eagle we boarded the Yukon Queen for a 102 mile trip to Dawson City. The trip was beautiful. It was difficult to hear the tour guide for all the people talking.

Dawson City was fantastic! One of my favorite parts of the trip. We were there for 2 nights. We shopped and went to Diamond Tooth Gertie’s. We are also new members of the “Sourtoe Cocktail” Club.

From Dawson City we traveled by bus to Whitehorse. This bus ride was a bit long. We were only in Whitehorse for one night and saw the “Frantic Follies Revue”. We were disappointed in the show compared to the show at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s in Dawson City.

In the morning, we left for Fraser where we would take the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad to Skagway. The scenery to Fraser and Skagway was fantastic. We checked in on the Ryndam, had lunch, then left the boat to spend the

afternoon in Skagway which was also a quaint town.

That evening, we left Skagway for Glacier Bay National Park. A fabulous experience to view the glaciers and whale watch. Then cruising through the inland passage.

We then went on to Ketchikan for a land excursion. It was raining terribly so we did a lot of shopping in Ketchikan.

The cruise was delightful. I had never been on a cruise and couldn’t believe the food, activities and optional events to attend. Finally, we arrived in Vancouver, our last day at 11 AM
