Good value for Heathrow Airports Holiday Inn Airport I stayed at the Heathrow Holiday Inn recently, and enjoyed my stay for the ...

My Sister & her husband and daughter (6 at the time) stayed in a kidsuite in 2004. We were really trying to do ‘disney on a budget’! This hotel was $99 per night, and just far enough away from Disney that you felt you escaped the park and could relax.
I have stayed ‘on site’ in Disney before (1999) at the value resorts, and to be honest, The holiday inn wasnt that bad in comparison.
We booked a kidsuite with One queen size bed and one set of bunkbeds.. My niece was delighted that she had a special little room. Yes, there is only a 3/4 partition between the main room and the kidsuite, but at least we could have adult conversation throughout the night and watch tv while the little one slept, without waking her. I slept on the bottom bunk. Plenty of room for an adult should you be on a budget…Which brings me to our most recent trip in June of 2008.
This time we travelled with myself, my mother, my sister & hubby again, and the 2 kids! (Niece now 10, nephew now 6). We booked another kidsuite, this time with 2 sets of bunks and a king bed. My mother and I stayed on the bottom bunks while the kids slept on top. My sister & hubby in the king bed.. (it was their family vacation but we tagged along!!)
The sleeping arrangements worked out great! Where else can you sleep 6 for $99 per night?!?!
The room was large enough to hold each of our suitcases (12 by the time we left with shopping and all!) Plus carry-on luggage, purses, etc…
The kids/bunks section had a small dresser which the kids used, and there were plenty of space in the dressers in the main sleeping area for all of our clothes.
The main part of the room had a large dresser, table with chairs, night stands, cable TV, clock radio and a telephone. The bathroom is quite large as well. It has a full size vanity/counter space for all of our stuff - makeup, creams, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, shampoos, shaving kit, etc… (There were 6 of us remember)..
There was an efficiency kitchen with a small sink, counter, microwave and refrigerator. There is a walgreens just seconds away by car so we picked up milk, cereal, bread, juice, snacks, etc for breakfast every morning before the park. Kids do eat free at holiday inn, but the adults still have to pay, so it can get pretty pricey, especially if you are eating 2 other meals per day in Disney! There isnt any cutlery, bowls, plates, etc, so we bought some disposable stuff from walgreens as well. I’m sure if you asked the hotel they would provide it to you, but who wants to wash dishes on vacation?!?!
There is A/C in the room that kept it pretty cool. We would leave it on all day for when we returned. The unit was fairly noisy but after 12 hours in the park, it didnt matter much.
The pool area is nice - really crowded on the weekends, but that seems to be when they start all of the fun activities for the kids. Didnt see much of anything during the week. There is a large pool with shallow and deep ends.. Not deep enough to dive though.. 6 feet I believe. There is also a kiddie pool and 2 seperate gated hot tubs. Plenty of plastic chairs for sun bathing - and smoking is allowed on the pool deck. (which we didnt mind as 1/2 of us were smokers) The pool area closes at 11 sharp… It was almost a little too quite once 11pm hit, especially for the adults who were just winding down. Frozen drinks at the bar were a little pricey - so, if you are like us - on a budget, we just headed to walmart, bought a blender and made our own!!! :o)
The maid service was good. The room was kept clean everyday and beds made/changed. We happened to be there a few times while they were cleaning… they did the floors everytime, bathtub, mirrors, etc…
As for food, there are a lot of places to eat just seconds from the hotel. We didnt eat at the hotel at all because there was so many other places to choose from, without straying too far away.
The location is just the best!!! It’s near shopping, about 1 mile to the Disney east gate entrance and downtown Disney.
We rented a car from Thrifty and the attendant knew exactly where to direct us. Very easy to spot the hotel should you get lost!!
Anyway, hope this helps!! We will definitely be back again!!!!
