I’ve been travelling more than average this year, 15 trips in the first nine months, and most trips have been 3-5 days at a time. I’ve been checking my luggage because of the need to have several changes of “office” clothes and have been using a large suitcase from my road-warrior days. (18 months of 5-day trips - ugh!) My trusty old bag had pretty much given up the ghost after being schlepped through too many airports to count. I started looking in earnest a few weeks ago for a bag that carry enough for my average 3-day trip, and still be small enough to carry-on. Having travelled a lot, I had some strong opinions about quality and features. I came across the Delsey line in a local luggage shop and was able to look across their several offerings, settling on the “Helium Pilot” as the best option for a bag that is going to be used on a regular basis. It’s rugged, without being heavy and has several built-in features which make packing easier. My favorites are the fold-out suit carrier which holds all my shirts and slacks and then folds into the bag to keep them secure without wrinkling them, and the soiled laundry pouch that holds all my dirty laundry separate from the rest of the bags contents. There are an additional four zipper pockets inside to hold toiletries, etc. I just returned from a 4-day trip with this bag, and was delighted. It held everything in an organized manner and was easy to store in the overhead luggage bins in the airline (thereby saving me $30 in checked baggage fees.) This one’s a keeper!
The bag is available in three colors, black, platinum (gray) and a funky blue (not a color I’d choose because it will show dirt too soon.)
