La Quinta is a more familiar name amongst travelers. This motel chain is numerous in many states nationwide, yet still more construction of these motels is underway.
Laid out in a spacious area, just off Interstate 10, in Tallahassee, on Monroe Street - State Highway 27, you will find this La Quinta motel. Monroe Street is a double-lane highway with a meridian, and one of the major thoroughfares of the city of Tallahassee. From Exit 199, off Interstate 10 West, take a right toward the city, turn left onto the road to access the parking area of the motel. Additionally, there is a light for the turn, which makes this an easy access motel. From Exit 199, there are about eight motels, La Quinta inclusive, readily available within a block from the Interstate.
This area is away from the center of the city; therefore, not as busy of an area. For a less congested area, surprisingly, there are many hotels, motels, restaurants (fast food or sit down), service - quick stop stations, and a small mall (Chuck-E Cheese’s, cinema, and some financial institutions - offices). All are within a few blocks to alleviate having to go directly into the downtown city area, or straying too far from the Interstate and motel.
The parking area for the motel is spacious and completely encompasses the motel affording one the opportunity of making a few passes to check out the establishment, finding a good parking spot, etc. At this particular motel, ground level is a mystery since some of the motel is built higher - lower than other parts of the motel due to the sloping of the ground. Additionally, the parking area is on slants and slopes, but some areas do offer some degree of flatness for parking. There are some trees scattered about to afford one some shading, as well. The parking area is not easily identifiable, which should be recognizable by labels such as “East, West, North, and South Parking Areas,” sparing the guest some confusion. Thus, offering one the knowledge of where to park to escape the morning sun, and of knowing exactly where they parked if they should happen to park a distance from their room.
Not all rooms are accessible by falling out of your automobile and into the room, even on the bottom floors of the motel. Some rooms are in areas with courtyards with sidewalks that you would need to walk along to access your room. Either centrally located elevators (closer into the center of the structure) or outside stairways access the upper floors. Near the elevators you will find large valets (mechanical cart - dolly) to help you with your luggage. Both the elevators and the valets come in very handy, especially when you have a lot of luggage to load and unload.
There may be some rooms near the front main entrance accessible through the lobby of the building. Most rooms around the building looked to be accessible by the centrally located elevators and outside stairways. You may want to check with the establishment should you desire otherwise.
All amenities of hotel - motel living is offered. You can expect the rooms to be clean, comfortable, and spacious. Call and wake-up reminders, business center, continental breakfast, guest laundry, telephone, television, Internet service, and more.
This motel puts out a large spread for its continental breakfast; served between certain early - mid-morning hours in a area just off the spacious lobby of the motel. If you are wanting something other than what the motel offers, there is a restaurant in the same parking lot, very easily accessible. There is another family restaurant across the side road from the motel within walking distance, as well.
If you have a room away from the front lobby of the building, you can handily reach the lobby by going up the elevator or stairway (lower levels) and through the first floor breezeway rather than walking the whole circumference of the establishment. The buildings are not marked, so you will need to get your bearings of where you are located in relation to the lobby of the building. This is a very large establishment and should have each building face marked for easy identification.
Motel personnel and staff try to make you as comfortable as possible. If you have any problems, they are quick to try to resolve your concerns and issues. Clearly, their guests are a vital part of their business that they do recognize.
During my traveling, I have stayed at several of these motels in different areas. To no avail, you get what you pay for with this particular motel chain and a bit more. Even using coupons, they will put you in a room on the first floor. La Quinta does aim to please.
As far as cost, this motel is higher than the low-end, or low-medium rate, but a little less, by a few dollars, than Microtel’s, which are a very nice chain. La Quinta is very close to this higher-end chain motel, Microtel. What I did miss at La Quinta is the overhead fans and the super comfortable beds, which Microtel also offers. However, La Quinta does rank very high in customer service (their personnel staffing) and quality of their establishments.
