I have stayed at JPL on two separate occasions, and every time I stay there, the experience is memorable. The beauty of the location is unprecedented, giving a back to nature feel that is seldom duplicated anywhere in North America. Elk, deer, squirrels and geese abound, sometimes in great numbers. Lac Beauvert is beautiful and serene, and canoe and kayak rentals are inexpensive and fun. The golf course is world renowned, but just hiking on the grounds is a wonderful experience. The staff are exceptional, they really just want to help as much as possible. Food services, in my experience have been exceptional as well. Room service breakfast was like no other I have had. The server brought flowers, a tab;e cloth and all needed accessories in a big silver box, and set up our room like it was a small Parisian cafe.
Although there are enough activities at the lodge to keep you busy for a few days, you will want to get to the townsite and to the many wonderful trails and sights around Jasper. It’s nice to have a car, but if you don’t, the concierge in the hotel has excellent ideas for day trips or expeditions, and can set them up for you.
One piece of advice, the Lodge is not air conditioned. Normally the temperatures in Jasper are not warm enough to warrant it, but when the temperatures approach 30 centigrade, the cabins can get stiflingly hot. Best time of year to visit is September, October. Still warm, but not too warm. The other thing, is that the lodge is expensive in the tourist season, but is quite reasonable in the off season (Before skiing and after summer vacation)
